MY OTP’S | Top Five Fridays

So, as you can probably tell from the theme of this blog, I’m a pretty avid reader. I like to get sucked into different worlds, and the lives of characters, and with that, comes the love interests. When I get really into a book or TV show, you can pretty much bet that I am shipping the hell out of someone. The following list is in no particular order. (this is kind of spoilery if you haven’t been caught up!)

1. Bellarke from THE 100

They aren’t canon, and honestly, I’m kind of okay with that. The 100 is an amazing show, and even though I ship these two so freaking hard, if they never make it canon, I’ll understand because they have awesome friend chemistry as well.

2. Mindy and Danny from THE MINDY PROJECT

Manny? Dandy? I’m not sure what the official ship name is but oh my god, these two are so cute together, and if you disagree… you’re wrong.

3. Wicken from THE 100

I’d say these two are pretty canon. And let me say: Wick is so much better for Raven than Finn ever was. You can tell that he actually loves her, and they can relate and banter with each other, and it’s just great ah.

4. Percabeth from PJO/HOO

I mean come on…. how could I not put Percabeth on this list? *forever shipping Percabeth even though everyone classes Riordan books as ‘childrens books’*

5. Harvey and Donna from SUITS

I love this show and I love these two and their dynamic. I’m apprehensively waiting for the next season to come out because of that VERY UPSETTING ending!!

TOP FIVE FRIDAYS: Favourite Characters

I decided to start sort of like a weekly segment, where every Friday I would post the ‘top 5’ of whatever category I decide. So for my first one I chose to compile a list of my favorite characters! This was really hard, because there are so many characters that I love and adore. (in no particular order)

1. Percy Jackson

Percy Jackson from the Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan. I don’t know how to describe my love for this boy. He’s sarcastic, and funny, and can be a little dim witted at times, but he’s brave and strong, and loyal.

2. Merlin (BBC)

Merlin from the BBC show Merlin. I don’t think there’s anything I don’t love about this kid. The fact that he has such great power, but keeps it hidden, and is so humble about it; it gets to me. Adding on to that, he’s extremely witty and sweet.

3. Zuko

Prince Zuko from the Nickelodeon show Avatar: The Last Airbender. Let’s be real here, no other character will have a character arc as great as Zuko’s. I think back to the time I used to hate Zuko because of his constant sullenness, and laugh, because he reflects me so much.

4. Harry Potter

Harry Potter from the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling. I’ve always liked Harry, I grew up with him. But there’s such a relatable aspect about him that you don’t come across often. He’s also fiercely loyal, and funny and witty, which I admire.

5. Isabelle Lightwood

Isabelle Lightwood from the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. Badass girl who also loves fashion and makeup? Yes please. I find that in a lot of YA books, girls give up their “femininity” to be tough, like they’re mutually exclusive. They’re not, and Isabelle is a perfect example of that.

I hope I’ll be able to keep up with this… I’ll try my best!

Dear Rick Riordan,

I’m not sure how to start this “letter”, because I don’t think you’re aware of how much your novels, particularly your Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus series, has affected your readers.

To me, your characters weren’t just 2D static objects that I was reading about in a book; they were, as weird as it sounds, my friends. I started reading Percy Jackson when I was 12, and it was just amazing for me to grow up with Percy, and relate to him.

I struggled with depression a lot last year, and I still do, although it has gotten a lot better for me. I think novels, such as yours, helped me a lot. There were days where I just wanted to stop living, because I hated the life I was in. But then I would read your books and escape into this great world, where even though these demigods faced death almost everyday, they always had hope.

I’m very socially awkward, and have social anxiety, and it’s something that I’ve been trying to overcome my whole life. It hinders me, and it’s so stupid because I know that it’s all in my head. In this way, I can relate to Percy. I know that he isn’t a very socially awkward person, but before he found out that he was a demigod, he was always out of place, and getting into trouble, without meaning to, and I don’t know, I guess I just empathize with him.

Man, I didn’t mean to make this letter so depressing to read… I also want to thank you for creating this amazing fanbase. Without your novels, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be the same person. All these people with fanfictions, and fanart, and headcanons, it’s incredible. It’s like you’ve created this huge family, and I will be forever grateful.

I’ve made friends within the PJO community, and they’ve helped me through some tough times. This was all created by you, and I know you may never read this, but I just want to say thank you, for everything.

Sincerely,
Ari

PS. Let’s just not talk about the movies, ok, ok, good.
